Transfers
Transfers
Idalou ISD will accept a limited number of transfer students who reside out-of-district for the 25-26 school year. The transfer process allows students who do not live within the Idalou ISD boundaries to attend school in Idalou ISD. Read through the information on this page for an explanation of the transfer application process.
Please review the Transfer Guidelines below prior to beginning the transfer application process.
Guidelines
-
The parent/guardian of an applicant must complete the online Out-of-District Transfer Contact Form and pay a non-refundable $35.00 application fee. A separate application form (and corresponding application fee) must be submitted for each student. Documentation including academic, attendance, and disciplinary records must be uploaded as part of online application completion, along with an Transfer Declaration of Student Discipline completed by the parent/guardian of the student applicant and an administrator from the student applicant’s current campus.
When completing the Transfer Application Form, parents/guardians should ensure the input of a correct email address that is monitored frequently, as this will be the method used to contact parents/guardians regarding submission questions and approval/denial notices.
-
The opportunity for transfer approval is open only to students who demonstrate a commitment to and desire for a positive and successful school experience.
For the 2025-26 school year, the transfer application process is open only to incoming grade levels kindergarten-twelfth grade.
Applicants must demonstrate a history of positive attendance and behavior along with a commitment to academic success.
Transfer approval is per applicant only, not per household/family. The approval of a transfer request for one student will not factor into the determination for siblings. It is the policy of Idalou Independent School District not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability or age in its employment or in providing education or access to benefits of educational services, activities, and programs.
-
A limited number of transfer applications will be approved. While many applicants may demonstrate a commitment to and desire for a positive and successful school experience, the district must also consider a number of factors outside of applicant criteria. Additional factors considered for transfer approval include campus enrollment and capacity, growth projections, grade level enrollment, teacher allocations, and professional staff allocations. As a result, it is possible that the transfer requests of students who meet all required criteria may be denied.
-
Tuition for transfer students will be $250.00 per year. If approved for transfer, all siblings will be charged the same amount up to $750.00. A family will not be charged more than $750.00 per year.
Should an out-of-district transfer student unenroll from the district prior to the completion of a semester, the parent/guardian will not receive a refund.
-
Idalou ISD will not provide transportation to and from school for out-of-district transfer students. Out-of-district transfer students must be dropped off at school and picked up from school in a timely fashion.
-
If the transfer application is approved, the parent/guardian will be notified via email of campus assignment. Campus assignments cannot be changed at the request of parent/guardian or applicant.
-
Transfer status is approved for one school year only. The records of all transfer students will be reviewed each year for requalification, during which time academic progress, attendance records, and behavior/disciplinary records for the current school year will be considered, along with administrator recommendation and the demonstration of parental cooperation and partnership in the educational process.
While a new application will not be required for each school year, a parent/guardian must sign an annual Transfer Agreement prior to the start of the next school year. (Parents/guardians of transfer students approved for subsequent school years will be notified via email of all agreement and payment deadlines.)
-
Idalou ISD transfer students must follow all IISD student rules and regulations, including, but not limited to, district policies and regulations, the Student Code of Conduct, and attendance requirements. Transfer status may be revoked for the following reasons, as determined by a Idalou ISD administrator:
● Disciplinary infractions, violations of the Student Code of Conduct, and/or criminal offenses;
● Excessive absences or tardiness;
● Grades falling below what is expected of the student or failing to meet expectations on required testing
● Lack of parental cooperation or partnership in the educational process; to include disruptive or inappropriate parental behavior toward any school employee or at any school event;
● Failure to provide all legally required enrollment documents as part of the mandatory IISD annual student verification process (including an official, current record of compliance with Texas minimum state vaccine requirements for students in grades kindergarten-12); and
● Falsification of records or misrepresentation of records to gain or maintain transfer status. The status of all transfer students will be reviewed each year for requalification, and may be reviewed more frequently at administrators discretion. -
University Interscholastic League (UIL) governs the majority of extracurricular athletic, musical, and academic competition among Texas public schools (comprehensive list of activities governed by UIL available at uiltexas.org). Inter-district transfer students will be held to any and all UIL policies governing transfer and residency status (see UIL Constitution, Subchapter M). UIL prohibits students from transferring for athletic purposes. Students in grades 8-12 who participate (practice or compete) in any UIL-sanctioned athletic event, then transfer to another school, are ineligible for varsity competition in that athletic event for one calendar year from the date of enrollment in the new school, unless granted a waiver by UIL. Please review the UIL Constitution for more information.
-
Prior enrollment or participation in any specific course, activity, program, or team at a former school does not guarantee the opportunity to be enrolled in or participate in any specific course, activity, program, or team at Idalou ISD. Admittance into all courses, activities, programs, and teams is subject to scheduling and capacity considerations and will be determined by any and all necessary prerequisites, test admissions, tryout requirements, and any other determining factor to which all other Idalou ISD students are held.
-
The valedictorian and salutatorian shall be the eligible students with the highest and second highest rank, respectively. To be eligible for this local graduation honor, a student must:
- Have been continuously enrolled in Idalou High School for the four semesters immediately preceding graduation;
- Be graduating after exactly eight semesters of enrollment in high school; and
- Have completed the foundation program with the distinguished level of achievement.
