About Me

Educational History:

I attended Seagraves ISD from Kindergarten to 12th grade. It was a great place to grow up. I love living in small towns. I feel very blessed and grateful to finish raising my two sons in the AWESOME community of Idalou.

Degrees and Certifications:

I attended South Plains College in Levelland from 1992 to 1994. I earned my Associates of Arts Degree. I attended Texas Tech University from 1994 to 1996. I graduated from Texas Tech in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. I am certified to teach 1st through 8th grade, with a specialization in English.

Professional Development:

I was very lucky to have had the opportunity to go through The 7 Healthy Habits of Highly Effective People, which was written by Dr. Stephen Covey. I will be able to use what I learned to help mold my students into wonderful leaders. In my classroom, it is ALL about the students. They are center stage, and I am their number one cheerleader and guide on the side.  Below are a few quotes that are my favorite by Dr. Stephen Covey:

"Start with the end in mind."

"Seek first to understand, then to be understood."

"Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important."

"We are free to choose our actions...but we are not free to choose the consequences of our actions."

Current Position:

I taught at Idalou Elementary from 2004 to 2009. During that time, I taught 3rd grade for three years and 1st and 2nd grade one year. When my family and I moved back to Idalou from Dripping Springs, I taught 3rd grade ELAR and Social Studies 3 years.  I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching 2nd grade the past 4 years.  I have a total of 15 years teaching experience in 2nd grade.  It is my absolute love, and I feel very blessed to be a part of this grade level and district.

Previous Position:

My first job was teaching 8th grade Earth Science in Tahoka. I was fresh out of college and ready to conquer the world!! I learned very quickly that my love was "little" people! From there, I moved down to 2nd grade and taught there for four years. I also taught first grade for 1 year at Lubbock ISD. I  taught 2nd grade in Dripping Springs, Texas for 6 years before we moved back to Idalou.  I taught 3rd grade ELAR and Social Studies  for 3 years.  I am excited to be back teaching 2nd grade, which is my true love and where I have most of my teaching experience.  I am starting my fifth consecutive year of teaching 2nd grade here in Idalou.

Family Information:

My name is Jessica Millenbine, and I am so excited to be teaching 2nd grade for five consecutive years here in Idalou. My husband, Lewis, and I have two handsome boys. Cade is 22, and he attends school at Texas Tech University, and he will graduate in May. Cutter is 19, and he attends South Plains College.  We also have two precious dogs that are a huge part of our family. Crockett  is a labradoodle, and Sadie Brooke is a golden doodle.  I am looking forward to another AWESOME year. We will learn a lot, but we will certainly have fun while we are learning! THANK YOU in advance for sharing your kiddos with me this year!

Personal Information:

I love being at home and spending time with my family. I am a home body for sure!! I enjoy watching Cutter play sports, and Cade comes home every Sunday and we all get to be together.  I also enjoy taking my dogs, Cash and Sadie, on walks. I love to shop in stores. I am not an on-line shopper yet!  My go to stores are Walmart, Target, Old Navy, CATO, and Bath and Body.
