One Act Play
The Idalou High School Theater Class will be performing their One Act Play “Ville Du Havre” by Amanda Guthrie on March 2nd in the Auditorium. The play is based on the true story of how the hymn “It Is Well” was written first as a poem by Horatio Spafford and later put to music by Phillip Bliss. The story is one of faith through adversity and how peace was found through a relationship with God. The lyrics “When peace like a river attendeth my way. When sorrows like sea billows roll” set the tone for how this story begins. Later, Spafford’s words “It is well, It is well with my soul” express the peace that he receives from God despite his overwhelming circumstances. The One Act Play troupe and directors are looking forward to sharing this beautiful story and its message with the community.
Although this is a very family-oriented show, the director has rated the show PG because it deals with the death of children. There is no violence, blood, gore or offensive language. This night showcases the many talented artists and performers of Idalou High School including the award-winning band and visual art programs. There will be music and artwork in the library following the play along with refreshments.
